If you are reading this page, you must have gone through the rest of the site and most probably have surmised that I love working with web technologies- all facets of it. I love creating web sites and applications. I love every single step of the process from sketching it up to the conversion to a static site to galvanizing it into a data driven, dynamic site built on a framework which most suits the type of site I am building.

Genesis

I made a flashy entrance to this world on a November 15th a few eons ago. Rumors abound that a dragon appeared on the sky the day I was born and it rained flowers. My first computer was a ZX Spectrum which was a birthday present for a bright eyed 7 year old: me! Understandably I promptly started to play games on it. It also sparked in me the zest to program. My first x86 was a Pentium 3 I got when I was 12 and everything took off from there. From college to university, I always chose Computer Science for my major. I haven't stopped learning since and I have definitely not stopped getting excited about cutting edge programming.

Work

I took up freelancing back in 2005. Work was sporadic at best but I enjoyed the work and my independence. In 2007 I joined 1|1 studio as a junior web designer, a job I immensely enjoyed. I got to work with a number of amazing people and gained so much experience. Programming is my mainstay though and thus subsequently joined Urban Eye Media as a web engineer. The brainstorming sessions with some brilliant minds there is something I miss. I got to work on the opposite end of the spectrum, from being a designer, the dude who creates all those fancy pixels, to a developer, the guy who makes it all work. Eventually I figured freelancing would give me more freedom with ideas, clients and work timings. And here I am. You can see me writing for Nettuts + about various web technologies on a regular basis.

Stuff

I like gaming. A lot. Really. Gaming seems to relax me and I often turn to gaming for de-stressing. My favored platform right now is the 360 but that might change soon. I like Team Fortress 2 and play competitively when work allows. Tired of looking like a geek, I now workout 1.25 hours a day and jog 2 miles 5 times a week. I have a ton of birds at home and try to not piss them off which I fail miserably at. I enjoy eating and napping like every other person. I really dig physics and mathematics and think loop quantum gravity makes a lot more sense than string theory.

Site

This site was built from scratch using Photoshop for the prototyping and graphic assets, then coded up on Dreamweaver and then built, bit by tiny bit, using Django [a Python library] and hosted on NearlyFreeSpeech.net. If the site feels tardy, it's because neither mod_python nor FCGI is available. You'll probably see me switching to trusty old PHP if I can't find a way to speed things up.
